The History of Seament

Seament's rich history spans over 50 years. Seament began trading began in 1961, where they made a name for themselves as the first company to deliver merchandise in their early years. The company experienced much success over the years and in 1968, was able to purchase their first vessel to increase their scope and efficiency. By 1973, Seament was trading an average of 2 million tons of cement per year. Seament began to need ships readily available to accommodate the growing company and to deliver in a timely and efficient manner.

Seament created Seabulk Shipping after recognizing the need for larger ships. Seament started to be used by major cement groups around the world, starting as a local shipping company in Greece, to a nationwide franchise. Seabulk owns and operates twelve cement shipping vessels, from carriers, to self-propelled, to non-self-propelled. During the regional oil boom of the 1970's and 80's, the amount of cement that Seament was too much for most ports to handle. To solve this problem, Seament created the concept of a floating cement terminal in 1978- this changed the cement industry forever and is widely recognized around the world for this concept.

Seament was able to help countries solve their cement shortages and became even more internationally recognized. In 1995, Seament began offering port services and in 2002, began manufacturing cement. Thanks to Alexander F Bouriand his family in this family-run business, Seament is still a widely renowned and well-respected business today, providing solutions, delivery, and manufacturing of cement.
